Percentage Calculator Pakistan - Calculate Percentage, Grade & Marks Lost

For many students in Pakistan, the first question after the result is how much percentage they got. Calculating your percentage correctly matters a lot for every student in Pakistan. If you are a Matric, Intermediate or BS student, you need this. It also helps when you calculate your aggregate for a university merit list.

My Percentage Calculator Pakistan helps you convert your obtained marks into percentage, grade, and marks lost quickly. It follows the grading bands used by most BISE boards. It shows results quickly, is free to use, and keeps your marks safe on your own device without any storage.

Why Your Marks Percentage Matters

A Percentage Calculator is a simple tool that turns your obtained marks and total marks into a percentage and grade.

In Pakistan, almost every result card shows your obtained marks and total marks, but many admission forms, merit calculators, and job applications ask for your percentage. Doing this manually can lead to mistakes, especially when you are in a hurry.

This tool is useful for:

It also shows you your grade according to the standard grading bands used by most boards in Pakistan.

How Does This Percentage Calculator Work?

The calculation is based on the simple and universal percentage formula.

Formula 1 - Percentage: (Obtained Marks / Total Marks) x 100
Formula 2 - Marks Lost: Total Marks - Obtained Marks

After calculating the percentage, the tool also displays your grade based on the usual board bands used in Pakistan:

This grading system is followed by most BISE boards including Lahore Board, Faisalabad Board, Gujranwala Board, Sargodha Board, Multan Board, Karachi Board, and Federal Board. However, some boards and universities may have a slight difference in their grading bands.

Marks Percentage Example for Matric and FSc Students

Take an example that is common for Matric and Intermediate students in Pakistan.

Suppose a student scores 870 out of 1100 in Matric.

Now calculation:
Percentage = 870 / 1100 x 100
Percentage = 0.7909 x 100 = 79.09%

Marks Lost = 1100 - 870 = 230 marks

According to the standard grading bands, 79.09% falls in the A Grade category. If the student had scored 8 more marks (878), his percentage would be 79.81%, still an A grade. If he scored 880, it would be 80% and become A-One (A1) grade.

This example shows how even a few marks can change your grade and your overall merit. My calculator shows you all of this at once.

Common Errors Students Make in Percentage Calculation

Students often make small mistakes while calculating percentages that can affect their admission forms. Keep these tips in mind.

1. Use the Correct Total Marks: Always use the total marks written on your official result card. Do not use a generic total. For example, old Matric used to be 1050 total, but now most boards have 1100 total marks. Some boards have 1200. Some subjects have different weightage. So always enter the total marks as shown on your result card for that specific year.

2. Do Not Round Too Early: Do not round your percentage before filling your merit or admission form, unless the form specifically asks you to round it. For example, 79.09% should be written as 79.09%, not 79% or 80%. Many universities calculate merit up to two decimal places, and rounding early can reduce your merit. Only round if the university or board asks for it.

3. Check CGPA to Percentage Conversion: If you are a university student and your result is in CGPA (out of 4.0), some universities and boards do not accept direct conversion to percentage using a simple formula. Each university has its own official conversion formula. For example, some universities use (CGPA / 4) x 100, while others have a different formula. Before applying for a job or admission that asks for percentage, confirm whether they accept CGPA conversion and which formula they accept.

Important Details About Your Result

Grade bands can be slightly different for each board and university. The grading system I use here (80% = A-One, 70% = A, 60% = B) is the most common system used by BISE boards in Punjab, Sindh, KPK, and Balochistan. However, the Federal Board and some private universities may have slightly different grade boundaries or use GPA instead of grades.

Also, the passing marks are not the same everywhere. Usually, the passing percentage in Pakistan is 33% for Matric and Intermediate, but some boards and universities have 40% as the passing criteria. Some universities also have a 50% passing criteria for certain professional degrees.

So, treat the grade shown by this calculator as a useful reference, and always check your board's or university's official result card for the final and official grade.

BISE Boards Difference

In Punjab, most boards like BISE Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad use 1100 total for Matric and Inter. In Sindh, some boards still show old marksheets with different totals. Always check your own result card for total marks. For 9th only, use 550. For combined 10th, use 1100. This difference is why many students get the wrong percentage when they use 1050.
